Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, who attended the closing ceremony of the state level Dasehra festival in Jaisinghpur as the chief guest yesterday, said that about Rs 300 crore were being spent on various drinking water projects in Jaisinghpur Assembly constituency.

He said that recently Rs 36 crore were given for the water scheme in Panchrukhi. Apart from this, two new irrigation schemes of about Rs 8 crore have also been approved so that farmers can get enough water for farming.

The Deputy Chief Minister said a rest house of Jal Shakti Department will also be built in Jaisinghpur. The departmental officers have been instructed to complete the formalities.

He further said that a new bus station would be built in Jaisinghpur and an amount of Rs 2 crore would be spent its construction. The bus station will ensure better facilities for passengers. Agnihotri also announced that Volvo bus service will also be started from Jaisinghpur

Agnihotri said that effective steps were being taken for the promotion and preservation of art and culture of Himachal. Himachali artistes will be provided a platform on priority basis through festivals, for this, special attention will also be given to preserve ancient art.

He said that heritage tourism would be promoted in Himachal. Himachal has rich heritage in the form of old forts and temples.

The Department of Art and Culture would not only protect the rich heritage of the state but also promote it to attract tourists from across the world.
