3.2 kg charas seized at Damtal, 3 arrested
Following a tip-off, the police set up a naka on National Highway-54 last night at Damtal and intercepted a car and a motorcycle bearing Jammu and Kashmir registration number. During the search, they found the suspects to be carrying 3.2 kg charas. The suspects identified as Karan Preet Singh of Changi village and Sahil Kumar of Chak Desa village of Kathua district in Jammu and Vishal Kumar of Samlana village of Jawali subdivision in Kangra district. They were arrested by the police.
Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan said the police had registered a case under Sections 20, 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act against the suspected drug peddlers and their vehicles were also impounded. He said Vishal, who hailed from the Jawali area, was a habitual offender and a case under the NDPS Act had already been registered against him at Jawali police station on May 24 this year.
The SP said the police had started an investigation to ascertain the inter-state connection of the arrested accused in the case. “The police are working to smash the inter-state drug trafficking network in the Nurpur police district,” he said.
