27 countries to participate in International Film Festival of Shimla

The 10th edition of the International Film Festival of Shimla will be held from August 16 to 18 at the Gaiety Theatre
The inaugural film in this three-day festival will be a Marathi film ‘Mrs Tendulkar’, which stars acclaimed and National Award winning actress Seema Biswas, who will also be present during the inaugural ceremony. She will also hold an interactive session with the audience. This year, the festival will feature films from 27 countries including the US, UK, France, Iran, Sri Lanka, Uruguay, Germany, Nepal, Greece, among others, and from 20 states across the country.
The festival is being organised by the Himalayan Velocity in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and State’s Department of Language and Culture (LAC).
Festival Director Pushp Raj said that the festival will feature competitions in international, national and state category. “Specially curated sessions focusing on issues, themes, countries and the works of filmmakers will also be organised. The programme will also include screening of films, seminar/workshop sessions with experts from film institutes and film industry, and film critics. Also, 60 independent directors whose films will be screened in the festival will participate in the three-day long festival,” he said.
