Two boys of government senior secondary school Talmehra on Tuesday night broke into school and carried away a steel box containing stationery and other material, believing that the box contained question papers of the board examinations. They also broke nine CCTV cameras installed on the school premises.
While in all other CCTV cameras, the boys were videographed as masked, one camera caught their faces in the light of a cell phone. When the matter came to light, the education department reported the matter to the police.
PC Rana, Deputy Director of the Una Higher Education Department, said the incident occurred at 10.45 pm.
He said nine CCTV cameras were found broken, while two were intact.
He said a steel box containing blank envelopes to pack used answer sheets, stamps of superintendent and some other stationery were found in the rear courtyard of the school.
Rana said all the material in the box was intact. He said the parents of the two students were called by the school principal, who said they would get the cameras replaced. He informed that the two juvenile students have also admitted to have committed the crime.
The Deputy Director said the Principal has been directed to constitute a local inquiry, adding that the police have also been informed. He said the role of night watchman in the incident will also be probed.
