2 arrested for theft in Barog
The Dharampur police on Friday arrested two persons with stolen construction material at Barog. Chandereshwar Singh, a contractor, had lodged a complaint with the police that construction material from his construction site at Barog was being stolen. A case of theft was registered under various sections of the Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita at the Dharampur police station.
Singh had asked his two sons to maintain vigil over the site to nab the culprits red-handed. On Thursday, the duo saw a youngster remove the shuttering material from the under-construction site around 11 pm. The suspect then loaded the material into a pick-up truck.
The contractor’s sons then informed the police. The cops stopped the vehicle for checking some distance away. The stolen material, including wooden logs and iron channels, was recovered by the police. The police arrested the two occupants of the vehicle, Nohradhar resident Bhag Chand and Piplughat (Arki) resident Asraf Ali, alias Sahil Rawat.
Solan SP Gaurav said Asraf was known as Sahil locally, but a perusal of his documents by the police revealed that his name was Asraf Ali.
Asraf had a criminal past, and another case of theft had been registered against him at Arki, the SP added. He had been involved in stealing valuables, including a silver canopy, from a temple. The suspects were produced before a Kasauli court today, which remanded them to four-day police custody, the SP said.
