175 cyclists participate in Tour de Sanawar
The annual cyclothon Tour de Sanawar, organised by The Lawrence School, Sanawar, in collaboration with the school’s alumni association, The Old Sanawarian Society, was held on Sunday. The event was attended by 175 cyclists from 16 schools across four age categories and participants from over 20 cities, including Bangalore, Pune and Guwahati.
Hero Cycles chairman Pankaj Munjal (who is also an alumnus of the school) and Old Sanawarian Society president Pankaj Sapru flagged off the cycling race in the presence of school principal Himmat Singh Dhillon. One of the highlights of the event was the daredevil cycle stunt show performed by Lakshya Jangid, who is a professional MTB stunt rider and a four-time world champion as well as a world record holder in cycle stunts.
In the junior category, Arini of Lawrence School, Sanawar, among girls and Sarthak Thakur of Stokes Memorial, Shimla, among boys came first. In the senior category, Manasvi Badola of Lawrence School, Sanawar, and Arnab of GMSS came first among girls and boys, respectively.
Divija Sood and Divyansh Kaushal of Shimla won the Amateur women and men category, respectively. In the elite category, Ayush Negi of Scott HASTPA was declared the winner. Samaira Dhankar, Mannat Gill, Rehan Kumar, Manya Kapoor of Lawrence School Sanawar also ranked among the top three cyclists in their respective categories.
