15% seats reserved for Himachali candidates: NIFT-Kangra Director
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kangra, Director Rahul Chandra, while addressing a press conference here today, said NIFT, Kangra, would give 15 per cent reservation to Himachali students in the next academic session.
He said NIFT, established by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, was dedicated to promoting fashion education, research and innovation. The last date for application for the entrance examination for the 2025 academic session was January 6, in which 15 per cent seats were reserved for candidates of the state, Chandra added.
He said candidates who had completed Class XII education or had equivalent qualification could apply for undergraduate programmes. For postgraduate programmes, a bachelor’s degree in any relevant subject was required, he added.
Detailed eligibility criteria and application guidelines were available on the official NIFT website.
The admission process would be conducted online through the admission portal itself. Interested candidates could submit their applications along with the requisite fee before the deadline.
The entrance exam was scheduled for February 9, 2025, and would be followed by interviews and portfolio assessments for select programmes, he added.
He said NIFT offered diverse programmes — including B Design, BF Tech, M Design, MF Technology, and MFM — to promote creativity, innovation and technical expertise.
