15 Nahan villages selected under PM Adarsh Gram Yojana
A district-level convergence meeting under the Prime Minister’s Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) was held today at the Nahan Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
Sirmaur Assistant Commissioner Vivek Sharma presided over the meeting organised by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. During the meeting, Sharma revealed that 15 villages from the district have been selected for the village development plan under the PMAGY.
The scheme aims to provide essential infrastructure and basic facilities in these villages. Under this programme, the Central Government allocates a budget of Rs 21 lakh for each selected village, of which Rs 20 lakh is earmarked for the integration of various development components and Rs 1 lakh is set aside for administrative and other expenses. Furthermore, the selected villages will also benefit from additional schemes of other departments.
Sharma further said that the selected villages include six gram panchayats from the Sangrah Development Block — Ranfuwa Jabrog, Chowkar, Gehl, Sangrah, Nohra Dhar, and Lana Cheta. Other panchayats include Halah, Loja Manal, Kyari Gundah, and Rast from the Shillai Block; and Danda, Barhana, Bhatonwala, Mashu, and Tatiana from the Paonta and Tillaur Dhar blocks. A total budget of Rs 6.18 crore has been allocated for providing essential facilities in these panchayats.
The proposed development activities in these panchayats include improving drinking water and sanitation infrastructure, solid and liquid waste management systems, constructing and repairing toilets in schools and anganwadi centres, building all-weather roads, and installing solar lights and streetlights.
District Welfare Officer Vivek Arora said social audit-related information from the gram panchayats of Chowkar, Jamukoti, Maina Ghadhel, and Chadna in the Sangrah block, as well as the Thana Kasoga panchayat in the Nahan block, was still pending. The Assistant Commissioner directed the respective block development officers to expedite the necessary action and promptly submit the reports.
