12K km done, Mizoram cyclist pedals for clean air

Renowned cyclist Vanlallawmzuala, who has been travelling across the country for the past six months to promote environmental protection and reduce pollution, has reached Shimla. Hailing from Mizoram, he embarked on a country-wide tour from his home state on January 25, two months after his wedding.

After travelling from Kanyakumari to Jammu and Kashmir, he reached Shimla yesterday.

Upon reaching the JICA Forestry Project Headquarters, he received a grand welcome.

During the event, project director Shrestha Nand Sharma and other project employees gathered to hear his experiences. “So far, he has travelled 12,829 km, spreading the message of environmental conservation and pollution control,” said a spokesperson of the JICA Forestry Project. On the occasion, the cyclist from Mizoram said his goal was to complete a journey of 22,800 km across the country.

Vanlallawmzuala, who works with the Mizoram Pollution Control Board, is spreading the message of “Ride to Clean Air” across the country.

The cyclist added that he was cycling to secure a place in the India Book of Records, while encouraging the nation to maintain clean air and environment.

Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests R Lallan Sanga also attended the event.
