Shimla Municipal Corporation officials removed 12 unauthorised street vendors from various city markets today for operating without permits. The crackdown, led by Tehbazaari Inspector Jyoti Prakash, targeted vendors in Lower Bazaar, Kalibari temple and near Tunnel No. 103.

Officials asked vendors to provide their permits and licences, but when they failed to do so, their goods were confiscated. Most of the vendors were from neighboring states like Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The Municipal Corporation conducts similar operations every Sunday to ensure compliance. Currently, the Town Vending Committee is working on a street vending policy that will allocate space to registered vendors in designated vending zones, marked with blue lines and registration numbers.
