100 law students from across country join Solan varsity fest
The Centre for Clinical Legal Education (CCLE) at Shoolini University’s Faculty of Legal Sciences recently organised the three-day National Law Fest 3.0, drawing over 100 delegates, representing law colleges and universities from across India.
The fest aimed to enhance the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical legal training.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Faculty of Legal Sciences associate dean Nandan Sharma.
Professor of practice Rajeev Chauhan conducted a session to guide participants on the rules and regulations governing the competitions, setting a focused tone for the fest.
Himachal Pradesh National Law University Vice-Chancellor Preeti Saxena, as the chief guest at the event, delivered an address encouraging law students to uphold ethics and pursue continuous learning in their professional journeys.
Himachal Pradesh High Court Bar Association President Peeyush Verma, as the guest of honour, shared insights on the role of law students in addressing societal challenges, emphasising the need for intellectual rigour in an era of advancing artificial intelligence.
The festival featured several competitions, including moot court, crime scene investigation, PIL drafting, blog writing, case commentary writing, and legal opinion writing. Renowned judges, advocates, academicians and forensic experts evaluated the participants’ performances.
The moot court competition was won by Asian Law College, Noida, Uttar Pradesh; while Mangalatyan University, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, secured the runners-up position. Saveetha School of Law, Tamil Nadu, received recognition for the best memorial; and Manipal University, Jaipur, was named best speaker.
In the crime scene investigation competition, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, stood first, demonstrating exceptional investigative skills.
Amity University, Punjab, took the runners-up position with their systematic approach to problem-solving.
The blog writing competition was won by KIIT School of Law, Odisha, for their well-researched and articulate entry. Osmania University, Hyderabad, claimed the runners-up position for their insightful submission.
Chandigarh University, Chandigarh, secured the top spot in the legal opinion writing competition, with Auro University, Gujarat, earning the runners-up position for their precise and practical analysis.
The PIL drafting competition was dominated by BR Ambedkar National Law University, Haryana, whose petition showcased strong drafting skills.
OP Jindal Global University, Sonepat, followed as the runners-up with an impactful submission. In the case commentary writing competition, Integral University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, emerged victorious, delivering a detailed analysis of complex legal issues. Jharkhand Rai University, Jharkhand, claimed the runners-up title for their structured and insightful commentary.
Centre for Clinical Legal Education Convener and Director Renu Pal Sood presented a detailed report on the three-day festival, acknowledging the contributions of participants, judges and organisers.
