A man was killed after his motorcycle collided with a car in the Sanjauli area in Shimla, the police said here today.

The deceased was identified as Vikrant (28), son of Deshraj, and a resident of Gawar village in Mandi district.

The accident took place near Government College, Sanjauli, when Vikrant was on his way to Lakkar Bazaar from Sanjauli and his bike collided head-on with the car coming from the opposite direction. As a result, he suffered serious injuries.

Cops reached the spot after they received the information and rushed the injured to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) where he was declared brought dead. The postmortem was conducted after which the body was handed over to relatives of the victim.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Shimla Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed the report and said further investigation was on.
