Himachal-wide CITU protests against Centre on Nov 26

The State Committee of the Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) here today decided to hold state-wide protests against the “anti-worker, anti-farmer and anti-people” policies of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central Government on November 26 at all district and block headquarters.

Additionally, a two-day state convention focusing on labour issues will be held at Mandi on December 21 and 22.

This was decided during the meeting of CITU’ State Committee under the chairmanship of CITU state president Vijendra Mehra.

During the meeting, it was also decided that a delegation of CITU would soon meet the ministers concerned regarding the various issues.

Mehra said CITU had been demanding that the government declare Anganwadi, Mid-Day Meal and ASHA workers government employees, hiking the minimum wage for workers to Rs 26,000, abolishing the four “anti-worker” labour codes and the National Monetisation Pipeline, cancel the Agnipath Scheme and fixed-term employment contracts, besides other demands.

Due to the “neoliberal and pro-capitalist” policies of the Centre, unemployment poverty and inequality had increased, he added.

“We will urge the people to not to vote for BJP in the upcoming election,” he said.
