Himachal records 38 new COVID-19 cases, tally rises to 766

So far, 429 people have recovered, while 11 have migrated out of the state

As many as 38 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Himachal Pradesh, taking the state’s tally to 763, officials said on Tuesday.

Of these, 19 cases were reported from Hamirpur, 17 from Kangra, and two from Chamba, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) R D Dhiman said.

A new trend that was emerging among the COVID positive cases coming in the past few days was that all members of the family returning from Delhi were turning out to be positive.

In Hamirpur, most of the fresh cases, including five members of ten families, have a travel history to Delhi-NCR, Hamirpur Chief Medical Officer Archna Soni said.

A 72-year-old and his 36-year-old son quarantined at Kanjyan, a 44-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter, a 57-year-old man and his 50-year-old wife in home quarantine in Kulehra village, a 51-year-old man and his 22-year-old son, and a 41-year-old man and his 39-year-old wife have tested positive, she said.

Similarly, a 29-year-old Bahrain-returned man, a 26-year-old man quarantined at Doongri, a 31-year-old man in home quarantine, a 15-year-old girl, a 21-year-old man, a 29-year-old man, a 31-year-old man, a 30-year-old man who returned from Ahmednagar Army base and a 33-year-old man have also tested positive, she added.

In Kangra, too, most of the fresh cases include people who recently returned from Delhi, a district official said.

Hamirpur has the maximum number of active COVID-19 cases in the state at 89, followed by 84 in Kangra, 47 in Solan, 37 in Una, 17 in Shimla, 14 in Bilaspur, 10 each in Chamba and Sirmaur, and two each in Mandi, Kullu and Kinnaur.

The number of active cases in the state stands at 314, he said. So far, 429 people have recovered, while 11 have migrated out of the state.

Himachal Pradesh has reported seven deaths due to COVID-19.

17 tests positive in Kangra

As many as 17 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Kangra on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases in the 208.

The fresh case reported include a 50-year-old woman, her 30-year-old son and 23-year-old daughter-in-law, who are residents of Usher village in Dheera area and had travelled from Delhi. They have been shifted to the COVID Containment Centre in Dadh.

Other cases are that of a 31-year-old man, who is at present in institutional quarantine in Parour; 23-year-old man of Malehar village in Baijnath area with travel history from Delhi and is in institutional quarantine at Parour. Both have been shifted to the COVID Containment Centre at Dharamsala.

A 41-year-old female and her 24-year-old niece, residents of Gulehar village from Jaisinghpur; 47-year-old man of Changhar village in Palampur area with travel history from Delhi; 57-year-old resident of Bhawarna village with travel history from Delhi; 40-year-old man, his 35-year-old wife and two daughters aged 12 and 6 — residents of Takoli village in Fatehpur also travelled from Delhi and are under home quarantine; and 19-year-old man of Spail village in Jawali, also travelled from Delhi on June 16.

The rest three cases are that of a 36-year-old man of Thanger village with travel history from Punjab and was a primary contact of an already positive patient in Punjab; 53-year-old man from Kyori Brahmana village in Nurpur area; and 38-year-old man — both had returned from Delhi.

All have been shifted to institutional quarantine centres across the district. — With inputs from PTI
