BJP national president JP Nadda today said that the Congress government in the state could not have survived even for a day without the central assistance.

He said, “Employees are being paid salaries from Rs 500 crore granted by the Central Government as revenue deficit every month while pensioners are being paid pension from Rs 900 crore received as central taxes every month.”

Nadda was accorded a rousing welcome at Nahan in Sirmaur district. He inaugurated the BJP office there and later addressed party workers. He ridiculed the Chief Minister saying, “Beyond Kalka, Sukhu pleads for projects while in Himachal, he says the Central Government has not given anything to the state.”

“Gandhiji wanted the Congress to be disbanded after Independence but it did not happen due to the greed of its leaders to capture power. The Congress has been shifting its stand and now Rahul Gandhi is speaking the language of urban Naxals and making anti-national utterances,” he added.

He alleged that the Congress had cheated the people of the state by giving false guarantees before the 2022 Assembly elections. He alleged that the state government had embezzled funds extended under the central schemes and given benefits to its favourites. He added, “The representation of women will increase to 33 per cent in both Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha. If people want development, they should opt for the BJP. The Congress government has shut more than 900 institutes opened by the previous Jai Ram Thakur government, halting development in the state.”

About Nahan medical college, Nadda said that the Central Government had granted Rs 265 crore to this institution in one-go but the state government had not provided its share. He elaborated on various development initiatives of the Central Government and said no one had ever thought that premier institutes like AIIMS, medical devices park, Indian Institute of Management, PGI satellite centre, bulk drugs park, cancer care centre in Shimla, etc., would be opened in the state. Their foundation stones were laid in the first five years of the Narendra Modi government and completed in the next five years.

BJP state president Rajeev Bindal, while addressing the Abhinandan rally, gave credit to Nadda for the new party office at Nahan. He said that earlier the office used to run from a rented room but now a grand office had been built. Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, current and former MLAs were present on the occasion.

Nadda said that the sister and brother duo of the Congress had been talking about unemployment while they themselves were unemployed. Rahul Gandhi had announced in the USA that reservation should be ended, as he wanted to take away the rights of the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

The Congress’ greed for power has blinded them and they had failed to take care of the interests of common people, who were levied a ‘toilet’ tax, he added.
