Himachal Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla attends Bihar event virtually
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today virtually participated in the Prime Minister’s programme commemorating Janjatiya Gaurav Divas from Renuka Ji.
The event, held in Bihar, honours the legacy of Birsa Munda, a prominent tribal freedom fighter and folk hero of the Munda tribe from Jharkhand.
In his address, Shukla highlighted the significance of the day, stating, “Birsa Munda’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle and his efforts to uplift the tribal community are a source of inspiration for generations. Janjatiya Gaurav Divas is a celebration of his life, values, and the enduring strength of tribal heritage in India.”
As part of the celebrations, the Governor honoured six beneficiaries from Sirmaur district under the Dharti Abha Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan.
The initiative aims to empower tribal communities and promote sustainable development in rural areas.
Those honoured included Zahid Hassan, Noor Hassan, Liyakat Ali, Bhura Singh, Amar Nath and Hussan Singh.
They were felicitated with traditional Himachali caps and shawls, symbolising gratitude and respect for their contributions.
The Governor emphasised the importance of recognising and preserving tribal culture and traditions, which form an integral part of India’s diverse heritage.
He urged citizens to draw inspiration from Birsa Munda’s life, particularly his fight for justice and self-reliance.
The event underscored
the government’s commitment to tribal welfare and the ongoing efforts to integrate tribal communities into the mainstream while respecting their unique cultural identity.
This year’s Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations marked another step in acknowledging the invaluable contributions of India’s tribal communities to the nation’s cultural and historical fabric.
