Himachal best in tourism category

Himachal has been declared the best state in the tourism category by Outlook Traveller. The award was received by the Tourism Department in New Delhi on February 22, a spokesperson of the department said here today.
He said it was the fourth award received by the department in the past one-and-a-half months. On January 14, the department made a Guinness World Record by cooking 1,995 kg of khichdi at Tattapani, he added.
During the Surajkund Craft Mela, the state was awarded for excellence and it is for the first time in the past 33 years that a state has been appreciated for its performance.
During the IITM-Kolkata tourism fair held this month, Himachal was declared an adventure tourism destination of the year.
“The Paragliding Pre World Cup will be organised at Bir Billing. As many as 118 participants from 28 countries are expected to turn up,” the spokesperson said.
