HC asks Punjab Govt to provide security to ‘Kulhad Pizza’ couple
In view of the warnings issued by a Nihang group, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Punjab Government to provide security to the city-based ‘Kulhad Pizza’ couple - Sehaj Arora and Gurpreet.
The couple, known for promoting their food business through the social media, came under fire after the Nihang group objected to some of their dance videos, calling the content inappropriate for a Sikh couple.
The controversy escalated when members of the Nihang group visited the couple’s restaurant a few days ago and issued a stern warning to them. The Nihangs demanded that the couple stop creating and posting such content, threatening serious consequences if they did not comply with the directions. They also approached the police, requesting legal action against the couple.
Fearing for their safety, the couple filed a petition with the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking protection. Acting on their plea, the court issued a notice to the Punjab Government, instructing them to provide appropriate security to the couple. The matter is scheduled for hearing on November 13.
Meanwhile, the case has divided public opinion, with some people coming out in support of the couple, while others dismissing it as a publicity stunt, criticising the videos for setting a bad example for young girls and boys.
