ZP member submits memo to Sonepat MC over stray animals
Sonepat, August 30
A Zila Parishad member, Sanjay Badwasnia, and other leaders on Friday submitted a memorandum to Joint Commissioner Naresh Kumar in support of their demand to ensure the rounding up of stray animals in Sonepat.
Badwasnia and former councillor Yogesh Gahlot among others, met the official at his office. They said that during monsoon, the situation gets worse as scores of animals sit on the road, posing a significant threat to commuters, especially at night. These animals suddenly appear on the road and the commuters, especially two-wheeler riders, fail to spot them. As a result, there has been a rise in accidents. Many people have also lost their lives in such mishaps.
Sanjay said the stray animals not only roamed on main roads but also on the internal streets of the city. He said the Municipal Corporation had failed to curb the menace, adding that the authorities should launch a special campaign to round up such animals on priority. He alleged that the residents of the city were forced to face inconvenience due to the indifferent attitude of the administration as no action had been initiated despite having reported the problem several times.
Badwasnia also warned the authorities to ensure that such animals were rounded up till Monday, otherwise the stray animals would be tied at the gate of MC’s office on Tuesday.
