Youths raise slogans against MLA Chiranjeev Rao in Rewari village
Congress candidate and sitting MLA from Rewari Chiranjeev Rao was questioned by a group of youths in Gindokhar village about non-construction of a street in the village.
While addressing a gathering yesterday, some youths interrupted him. They asked him to tell people why a street in their village had not been built despite the laying of the project’s foundation stone, sources said.
His supporters objected and the protestors started raising slogans against the MLA. They were then forced by the MLA's supporters to leave the meeting venue.
Chiranjeev said despite being an MLA of the opposition party, he had left no opportunity to raise local issues in the Vidhan Sabha prominently in last five years. He promised the villagers that he would ensure overall development of the village if the Congress comes to power in the state.
He is the son of Ahir stalwart and former minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav and son-in-law of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Parshad Yadav. He is in the fray from Rewari for the second time.
The MLA told The Tribune that he had laid the foundation stone for the construction project of a street in Gindokhar village several months ago. "A sum of Rs 20 lakh was sanctioned to construct the street. It was the responsibility of the authorities concerned to construct it, hence I am not at fault in this case. However, I have promised the villagers to get the street constructed on coming to power," said Chiranjeev.
