Youth take part in ‘Run for Unity’ in Karnal, Kaithal

In celebration of National Unity Day and to pay tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the "Run for unity" events were organised in Karnal and Kaithal on Thursday morning.

In Karnal, the event was inaugurated by Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, who flagged off the run at Maharaja Agrasen Chowk, emphasising the importance of embracing Patel's ideals among the youth. Meanwhile, in Kaithal, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Vivek Bharti led the initiative by flagging off the run at Chhotu Ram stadium, highlighting the significance of national integrity and the contribution of Sardar Patel in unifying the nation. Both events witnessed enthusiastic participation from citizens, including the youth, children and athletes, who came together to promote the message of unity and harmony across the region. Both administered the national unity oath to the attendees.

While addressing the gathering in Karnal, Kalyan emphasised that the youth should resolve to incorporate the ideas and ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in their lives. He was accompanied by Indri MLA and Chief Whip Haryana Assembly Ram Kumar Kashyap, Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand, Assandh MLA Yoginder Rana, BJP district president Brij Gupta, former Mayor Renu Bala Gupta, DC Uttam Singh and others.

Kalyan highlighted that the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel was celebrated across the country. “After gaining Independence from the British rule, our biggest challenge was to unite the princely states, a task accomplished by Iron Man Sardar Patel. His political wisdom, dedication to the country and sense of unity should serve as a lesson for all citizens today."

Kalyan urged everyone to be responsible citizens and follow the ideals and values of Sardar Patel. The "Run for unity" started from Agrasen Chowk and concluded at Committee Chowk, where the top three men and women competitors, who finished the race, were awarded by Ram Kumar Kashyap and Jagmohan Anand. In the boys category, Ankush, Aryan and Rohit were placed first, second and third, respectively. Similarly, in the girls' category, Sandhya secured first place, Simran came second and Yogita was third, while Kanakshri was also awarded a consolation prize.

In Kaithal, Bharti highlighted the contribution of Sardar Patel in the unity of the country and said he skillfully integrated approximately 562 princely states into the Indian Union, binding the country together. His contribution to the creation of an undivided India could never be forgotten.
