Youth must keep up with latest AI technology: VC
The youth should upgrade their knowledge and skills in the latest technologies of Artificial Intelligence, said Prof Prakash Singh, Vice-Chancellor Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), asking the youth to prepare themselves for global competition.
Appreciating the efforts of the varsity alumni, Prof Singh said Artificial Intelligence should focus on protecting user data from third party access. He exhorted DCRUST students to follow in the footsteps of the university’s alumni. The Vice-Chancellor also said that the Department of Computer Science & Engineering will soon plan a specialised course in AI & Data Science to upgrade the skills of the students so that they can compete globally.
A lecture on the growing importance of data in the field of Artificial Intelligence was organised under the joint aegis of Computer Science & Engineering Department and the institute’s Innovation Council.
The keynote speaker at the lecture was Sanjeev Kothari, Associate Director, Cognizant WorldWide Limited, London, an alumnus of the university.
Kothari said that in future, data science and artificial intelligence will play an important role in human life. All decisions of Artificial Intelligence will be based on data, where data engineering and data analytics will play a crucial role.
After the advent of Artificial Intelligence, tasks like coding, designing and contact generation will be done automatically.
Associate Director Kothari, also discussed the impact of AI automation on the job sector. He emphasised students to develop their expertise in training AI bots. Only those with knowledge of specialised and latest AI technologies will be successful in the future.
Kothari also emphasised on the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He said Artificial Intelligence should respect diverse perspectives and cultures. AI systems must be secure so that users' personal information is completely protected.
About 600 students of the Computer Science & Engineering Department attended the session. The expert talk was organised by Prof Suman Deswal. Prof Sukhdeep Singh, Dean of IT& CS, Prof Amita Malik, Prof Suman Sangwan, president IIC, and Dr Rohtash Dhiman were present at the session.
