The fast track court (POCSO) of Additional District and Sessions Judge Sukhpreet Singh on Wednesday awarded 20 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a youth for raping a 13-year-old minor girl. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 upon the convict.

Deputy District Attorney (DDA) Kuldeep Dhull said the incident was reported to the Old Industrial police on August 8, 2021.

A resident of a colony in the Old Industrial area, in his complaint to the police, said a boy Sourabh, living in his neighbourhood, abducted his 13-year-old daughter. Following the complaint, the police registered a case and began a probe into the matter and nabbed the accused and recovered the girl. The police produced the victim before the magistrate where her statement was recorded.

Dhull said the fast track court of ASJ Sukhpreet Singh on Wednesday awarded 20 years RI to Kamal and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 under Section 4 (2) of the POCSO Act; RI for three years and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 363 of the IPC and; RI for five years and a fine of Rs 15,000 of the IPC under Section 366.
