Youth fest begins at Karnal govt college
The two-day district-level youth festival kicked off on Thursday at the auditorium of Chiranjilal Government Postgraduate College, bringing together students to showcase their talent in different cultural activities. This event is being organised jointly by the Haryana Department of Youth Affairs and Skill Development, Nehru Yuva Kendra and National Service Scheme (NSS).
The event was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp-lighting by Nilokheri MLA Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, along with Assistant Commissioner (UT) Yogesh Saini, who was the guest of honor.
Kabirpanthi emphasised the importance of such events in helping students in nurturing their talents. “These programmes play a crucial role in shaping the future of our nation. The responsibility of taking the country to greater heights lies on the shoulders of our youth,” he said.
He further highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering youth and creating a strong society. “The government is committed to expanding educational opportunities. Two government colleges for girls have been established in Taraori and Bastali, making quality education accessible and affordable. My doors as well as the government’s are open 24*7 to serve public,” he added.
Assistant Commissioner (under training) Yogesh Saini expressed his enthusiasm for attending the festival, saying, “Our country is a nation of youth, and this stage of life is important in shaping their future. Events like this promote good habits, reduce stress, and inspire creativity.” He encouraged the participants to read books for new perspectives and actively work against societal wrongs.
Rakesh Bhatia, principal of Babu Mool Chand Jain Industrial Training Institute, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, and said the festival included competitions in 10 categories such as folk singing (group and solo), Haryanvi dance (group and solo), poster making, story-telling, poetry, photography and science projects.
The winners will receive cash prizes — Rs 2,100 for the first place, Rs 1,500 for the second and Rs 1,100 for the third — along with certificates.
