Kaithal: A virtual workshop on ‘Self-reliant Haryana’ was organised by RKSD College, Kaithal, in collaboration with the Haryana State Higher Education Council, Panchkula, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, and the Swadeshi Swavalamban Trust. Its basic idea was to make Haryana self-reliant through self-employment, skill development and value-based education, which will help in realising the concept of self-reliant India. Principal Sanjay Goyal in the inaugural address welcomed the keynote speakers Prof Ankeshwar Prasad, controller of examinations, Kurukshetra University, Prof Anil senior, dean students welfare, Dr Rajesh Goyal, Secretary, Council of Technical Education, Government of Haryana, and Prof Gurcharan from Kurukshetra University. Prof Ankeshwar Prasad clarified that this campaign was not new to India, India was self-reliant till the 15th century.

Anti-ragging awareness programme

Yamunanagar: JN Kapur DAV Dental College, Yamunanagar, organised an anti-ragging awareness programme through a webinar. Dr IK Pandit, principal of the college, said there was zero tolerance towards ragging. “We have appealed to our students for maintaining brotherhood and pleasant atmosphere on the campus. Our college is known to have no-ragging incident since its inception,” he added. On this occasion, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dr Rajat Gulia; Dr Anil Kumar Chandna, senior executive member of the Dental Council of India; Dr Neeraj; advocate Pramod Gupta and journalist Devender Mehta spoke and motivated the students.

Paper bag day celebrated

Yamunanagar: Dyal Singh Public School, Jagadhri, celebrated Paper Bag Day to make students aware of pollution caused due to plastic and serious threat it poses to the natural environment. The students from Classes III to VIII participated in the paper bag-making activity with zeal and enthusiasm. They made paper bags in different designs. The slogan of ‘Say no to plastic bags’ was written on their bags. Principal Parul Kumar encouraged the students for their excellent work by awarding certificates.s.

Aids distribution camp

Yamunanagar: A free accessible aids distribution camp was organised at TDTR DAV Institute of Physiotherapy, Yamunanagar, in association with NGO Aarohan Welfare Society on the college campus. At the camp, 14 tricycles and eight wheelchairs were distributed by the Aarohan Welfare Society to the persons with disabilities. On this occasion, chief guest principal Dr Himanshu Sekhar motivated the persons with disabilities on how to know their inner strength and increase their skills.

Karnal student brings laurels

Karnal: Rajkumar, a student of BCA, 5th semester of DAV PG College, Karnal, brought laurel to the college by securing 8th rank with 92 per cent marks in the exams of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, and first rank in Karnal district. Principal Dr Ram Pal Saini expressed joy over the performance of the student, and congratulated his parents and the members of cComputer faculty for this achievement. He also announced to waive fees, free books and other maximum facilities.
