Workshop on Ramayana organised at Ladwa college
A one-day workshop on “Various dimensions of Ramayana in the field of research in the 21st century”, was organised under the joint aegis of the Sanskrit department, Hindi department and the research cell of Indira Gandhi National College, Ladwa, on Tuesday.
College Principal Dr Kushal Pal emphasised the importance of studying the Ramayana for the moral development of today’s youth. He noted that the epic helped in shaping the character of the youth and instilled a sense of duty towards one’s parents. Dr Pal urged students to limit their time on mobile devices and invest it in exploring texts such as the Ramayana, which contributed to their intellectual growth.
Chief speaker Dr Ramchandra from the Sanskrit department at IIHS, Kurukshetra University, described the Ramayana as an epic that continued to influence modern society in economic, political, and social spheres.
Dr Renu Balyan from the history department at KVA DAV Girls College, Karnal, highlighted the enduring qualities of leadership, efficiency, management and expertise exemplified by Lord Rama, which remained relevant in contemporary texts.
In her presentation, Dr Pooja Sharma from the hindi department at Maharana Pratap National College, Mullana, painted a poignant picture of contemporary life, discussing virtues that are often overlooked today. She elaborated on the bonds of friendship, familial relationships and sensitivity towards women and encouraging students to emulate the positive traits depicted in the Ramayana.
