The Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, Gurugram, Ashok Kumar Garg, has asked officials of the civic body and private agencies hired for sanitation works to do their work with dedication to make Gurugram a clean city.

Addressing a meeting of officials of the sanitation wing and representatives of private agencies, the Commissioner said the cleanliness works done by them must be visible on the ground. “The residents are consistently complaining of insanitary conditions prevailing in the city. We are accountable to them. Therefore, they must be satisfied by improving cleanliness and providing better civic amenities to them,” he said.

“Our main objective is to improve the situation as soon as possible by working on a war footing. All the Joint Commissioners along with sanitary inspectors should pay more attention on the ground and ensure that the main roads, green belts and public places are cleaned regularly and garbage is not found lying anywhere”. Garg said the MCG would launch a special campaign against polythene as single use plastic and polythene carrybags have been banned by the state government.
