Woman Sarpanch’s father-in-law critically injured in Karnal village shooting

In a shocking incident on Friday afternoon, Mahinder Singh, the father-in-law of Sarpanch Babita Rani, was critically injured after unidentified assailants opened fire on him at his residence in Bhambarehri village of Karnal district. The attackers, estimated to be three to four in number, arrived at Singh’s home around 12 pm and fired multiple rounds before fleeing the scene.

A police investigation is underway, with authorities reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. The incident is suspected to be linked to an old rivalry, according to DSP Assandh Satish Gautam. “We have registered a case under sections of attempt to murder and are actively pursuing all leads,” said Gautam. “It appears to be an old rivalry, and we are confident that those responsible will be apprehended soon.”

The attack has sparked outrage among villagers, who are demanding swift action against the attackers. Local residents are calling for the immediate arrest of the accused.
