A 24-year-old woman working with a private insurance company died after an overspeeding concrete mixer truck hit her electric scooter at the Jharsa chowk flyover on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway on Tuesday morning. The truck driver managed to flee, leaving his vehicle on the spot.

The police have impounded the truck, and registered an FIR against the truck driver at the Civil Lines police station.

According to the police, the incident took place around 9 am on Tuesday morning at Jharsa flyover. The deceased woman, identified as Poonam Saini, was going on her two-wheeler when the truck hit her vehicle from behind, leaving her seriously injured. After receiving information, a police team reached the spot, from where the truck driver had run away. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

The family of the deceased was informed about the accident.

“We have registered an FIR and impounded the truck. The driver will be arrested soon. We handed over the body to kin after the post-mortem examination”, said Inspector Arvind Kumar, SHO of the Civil Lines police station.
