Stirring up a new controversy, Congress leader and candidate from Ferozepur Jhirka, Mamman Khan, has announced that those who targeted ‘meos’ (referring to Mewatis) wrongly during the 2023 Nuh riots will be chased away after the Congress forms government.

Innocent residents targeted

During the riots, families were ruined and innocent residents were targeted. I objected to cow vigilantism and as a result I was harassed. — Mamman Khan, Congress candidate from Ferozepur Jhirka

Khan’s statement issued at a public meeting has lent a communal tinge to the ongoing campaign as BJP’s candidate from Nuh and a former minister, Sanjay Singh, said that it was a threat to the Hindus who are in minority in the district.

“Meos were wronged in the riots. Families were ruined and innocent residents were targeted. I objected to cow vigilantism and as a result I was harassed in Nuh riots. They stuffed our boys in police vehicles took them away, beat them, shattered homes. They targeted me, framed me,” said Mamman Khan in a video of one of his public meetings that went viral.

Khan was booked under the UAPA for allegedly instigating Nuh riots in 2023. The statements have snowballed into a major controversy starting a Youtube war between cow vigilantes and the ‘Mamman Army’.
