What our readers say: Work on laying tiles finally begins after two years
Work for the laying of interlocking tiles on both sides of the canal road in Narwana has finally begun after a wait of more than two years. After working for a fortnight, the contractor abruptly abandoned the job, leaving mounds of earth and mud on the roadside and even up to the middle of the road, causing inconvenience to commuters. As this is a busy road, the movement of vehicles raises clouds of dust in the area. The officials concerned already knew that the incomplete project was causing a lot of inconvenience to the people. Yet nothing was done, but now the administration should complete the project as soon as possible. –Ramesh Gupta, Narwana.

Need to curb drinking inside vehicles
Due to the lack of checking and action against violators, the practice of drinking inside cars has become a commonplace in Ambala. Many people can be seen consuming liquor in their vehicles and various public places after parking their cars near the roadside. A number of cars parked near small kiosks and dhabas, where services are provided to such people, can be spotted in the late evening. The police should carry out a special drive and take action against people consuming liquor in public places, and also against those serving them alcohol in their cars. Sharad, Ambala
