Mud and stagnant water spread across the Ambala City grain market have become an eyesore for farmers. The situation is not only causing inconvenience to the people, but also posing a major health hazard, keeping in view the outbreak of dengue and other diseases during this time. The Market Committee is responsible for looking after these issues, but the local administration should look into the matter at the earliest.

MANY illegal factories that burn tyres to extract oil are operational in the area due to which severe air pollution is being recorded. The burning of paddy stubble is worsening the stuation. With the first stage of GRAP still in force, the Pollution Control Board officials should take immediate measures to check such illegal factories, besides warning farmers not to burn paddy stubble in their fields. As festival season has begun, the authorities concerned should take immediate action. Ramesh Gupta, Narwana
