Haryana still without its own capital

Haryana has made unprecedented progress and all-round development in the 58 years of its existence. But the surprising thing is that during the period, no political party or Chief Minister or the Central and state government ruling the state has been able to establish its own capital or a separate High Court, whereas all new states formed in the country have their capital and High Court. The Prime Minister's Office, home and law ministries, judiciary, Central and state governments should now jointly take this issue seriously on the occasion of 59th Haryana Day and take concrete and effective action soon while claiming Haryana's right on Chandigarh. Karnal, located in the middle of the state on the national highway, is the most suitable place to be the state capital and have a High Court. Shakti Singh, Karnal

Sale of crackers was rampant on Diwali

Despite the administration’s ban on the sale-purchase and possession of firecrackers on the day of Diwali, different kinds of crackers wreaked a havoc in terms of uncontrolled pollution. People had a sleepless night due to the noise of crackers. Ahead of Diwali festival, the administration had imposed a ban on crackers but their sale was rampant. In fact, it was the failure on part of the police as they could not unearth the outlets where the crackers were kept and sold.
