What our readers say: MC workers fail to lift waste from dumping sites

Ardee City garbage strike: Immediate action needed
For the past 10 days, tractor-trailers have not been arriving at Ardee City to collect garbage due to a strike by the tractor owners and drivers. Despite this ongoing problem, the local sanitation authorities continue to assure residents daily that the tractor-trailers would arrive the following day; however, the problem remains unresolved. It is now critical for senior officials of the Municipal Corporation (MC) in Gurugram to take prompt action and address the strike in order to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in Ardee City.

All property transactions must be at actual market value
THE Haryana Government has fixed new collector rates for levying/collecting stamp duty on the registration of transactions of all types of residential, commercial and industrial properties and agricultural land across the state, which will be applicable across the state from December 1. The collector rates are fixed once or twice a year and this time, the collector rates have been increased by 10 to 20 per cent. If the stamp duty rates are too high, the property transactions will not be registered at the actual market value, leading to evasion of stamp duty, promoting corruption and cheating the public. The stamp duty rates applicable on the registration of documents must be reduced to only 2 per cent and it should be ensured that all types of property transactions are at the actual market value. Encroachments shrink Sirsa markets
Encroachment has become a common issue in the markets of Sirsa. The municipal staff members occasionally conduct drives to clear the streets, seizing goods displayed by shopkeepers several ft outside their shops. For a day or two after such actions, shopkeepers keep the streets clear, but soon, things return to the same old pattern. The markets are shrinking as the shopkeepers encroach on the roads by displaying their goods, leaving little space for vehicles, especially during the evening rush. Areas like Rori Bazaar, Mohta Market and Hisar Bazaar face significant encroachment problems. The shopkeepers line the streets with their goods, making it difficult for people to move around. As a result, visitors face immense trouble navigating through these crowded market streets. Vikas Sharma, Sirsa
