What our readers say: Make fancy streetlights functional
Last year, fancy lighting, popularly called "tiranga lights" were installed with much fanfare, on power poles, along with streetlights. Gradually, most of these tiranga lights became defunct and now, hardly one or two lights, here and there work which gives an ugly look. Most of the streetlights, too, have gone defunct which leave Canal Road here in complete darkness at night. The Nagar Parishad must make all these fancy lights and streetlights fully functional.

Stray cattle pose danger to commuters
Cattle are roaming freely on roads in Panipat. Bulls fighting on the roads is a common sight and in the process, they damage residents' cars and these even endanger their lives. Several incidents have been reported in the district in which people have been injured or lost their lives due to the stray animals. Herds of stray animals are also seen moving on the highways. Will the authorities concerned take cognisance of this perennial problem and initiate remedial measures.
