What our readers say: Green belt in Ambala sector 9 cries for attention
THE green belt in Sector 9 of Ambala city, between gates No. 3 and 4, is in a shambles. Wild overgrowth has taken over the decorative plants that were planted by the authorities concerned, which is a clear waste of taxpayers’ money. The area was developed for morning walks, but the benches in the area are broken, water channels are damaged and drug addicts have made it their hub. Despite a good amount of money having been allocated for cleanliness and removal of bushes, the area is not maintained well by the authorities concerned. Due to the monsoon it has also become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, causing serious concern to residents. The local administration must look into these issues and take appropriate action at the earliest. Gian P Kansal, Ambala
Dabwali should get district status
RESIDENTS of Dabwali have been requesting the Haryana Government to give it the status of a district. A few villages such as Chautala and Abubshahar are nearly 90 km from the district headquarters. It becomes difficult for people to travel such long distances to get their official works done, leading to the loss of time and money. Dabwali fulfils all the necessary conditions of becoming a district and the government should act soon for the benefit of the residents.
Sohit Sharma, Dabwali
