What our readers say: Dhabas must use LPG-run Tandoors

While entering Delhi from areas like Sonepat and Bahadurgarh, there are hundreds of dhabas along the highways, where food and bread are cooked in tandoors that emit thick clouds of smoke when fired up in the morning. A significant amount of wood charcoal is used, and it takes a long time for the tandoors to heat up, during which dark smoke continues to billow out into the atmosphere, causing considerable air pollution. All eateries and dhabas in the NCR should be restricted to using only LPG-fired tandoors until AQI levels return to satisfactory levels. —Ramesh Gupta, Gurugram

Untreated chemical waste in drains

Dyeing units have been releasing their untreated waste either in the drains or in the open. The industrial area of Sector 58 here is one the zones where the problem has taken serious dimensions. Here some dyeing units have been releasing untreated waste in the green belts or in the sewage network despite the ban. The complaints raised against such units or activities goes unheard or without any tough action from the departments concerned. —Narender Sirohi, Faridabad
