Wear uniform & badge, auto drivers told
The Kurukshetra police have directed auto rickshaw and e-rickshaw drivers to wear uniform and badge in order to avoid action.
A large number of auto and e-rickshaws ply in Kurukshetra but drivers do not wear uniform. A number auto drivers flout traffic norms too.
Violators to be penalised
In case of violation of the Motor Vehicles Act, action will be initiated. The drivers have also been told to write the name of the owner, mobile number, permit, fitness validity and emergency numbers in large fonts.

A Kurukshetra police spokesman said the police had been taking various steps to improve the traffic management in the district and as part of the efforts, the auto and e-rickshaw drivers had been directed to wear uniform and badge. Soon, the traffic police will start inspections and take action in case of non-compliance of orders.
SHO of Kurukshetra traffic police station Gurnam Singh said that directions had been issued to auto and e-rickshaw drivers, and inspections would begin soon.
He said, “The drivers have been told to wear grey-coloured uniform and a badge on the left side of the chest. The auto and e-rickshaw unions have been told to motivate their members and make them aware of the directions. In case of violation of the Motor Vehicles Act, action will be initiated. The drivers have also been told to write the name of the owner, mobile number, permit, fitness validity and emergency numbers in large fonts. No extra seat or folding seat is allowed, and there should be fixed rods between the seat of driver and passengers and the passengers should use the left side to board and deboard the autos."
