Hemant Kumar, an advocate of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, claimed that the total electorate would go up in the April/May 2024 Lok Sabha elections. “Certain amendments to the Elections Laws (Amendment), Act, 2021, and Representation of the People’s Act, 1950, which came into force on August 1, 2022, have allowed enrolment of the new voters, who complete 18 years, on January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 of every year. The forthcoming Lok Sabha elections will see the inclusion of new voters, who complete 18 years on April 1, 2024, thus increasing the total electorate in Haryana,” he said.
