volunteers donate blood at Sirsa
A voluntary blood donation camp was organised at the Red Cross Community Centre, Barnala Road. The initiative was held by the District Red Cross Society with the support of HDFC Bank to help address blood shortages at Sirsa General Hospital.
Lal Bahadur Beniwal, secretary of the District Red Cross Society, said the camp aimed at supporting the blood bank at Sirsa Hospital. A total of 33 persons came forward to donate blood voluntarily. Dr Samta, along with her team of lab technicians and counsellors from the hospital, led the efforts to ensure smooth processing.
The camp saw participation from various community groups, including students from the Ch Devi Lal University and trainees from the PNB Self-Employment Training Institute. The staff from the Red Cross and local municipal council employees also joined in. Beniwal said blood donation was a noble act that saved the lives of many and brought hope to families in need. He highlighted the health benefits, stating that donating blood every three months kept the body healthy without any adverse effects.
After the donation, the donors received refreshments and mementos as a gesture of appreciation, provided by Sunil Verma, the cluster head of HDFC Bank, along with other bank representatives.
