The Sirsa police are investigating two separate fraud cases where victims were cheated of a combined Rs 33 lakh on the promise of being sent abroad for work.

In the first case, Sudesh Kumar, a resident of Farwai Kalan village, was arrested for duping four youths of Rs 29.73 lakh. The accused had promised to send the victims to Germany on work visas but instead sent them to Armenia and Dubai. The complaint was filed by Pawan Kumar, a resident of Darba Kalan village. Sirsa SP Vikrant Bhushan confirmed Sudesh’s arrest and stated that he would be presented in court for remand. The police aimed at recovering the cheated amount and identify Sudesh’s accomplices during the investigation.

In the second case, Gurpreet Singh of Mandi Ding alleged that Ranjit Singh, Poonam, and her husband Gurpreet Singh cheated him of Rs 3.24 lakh. The accused, who ran an office named ‘Dream to Destination’ in Jalandhar, promised to send Gurpreet’s sister, Arshdeep Kaur, to Canada. Despite taking the money and documents, they failed to process the application and refunded only Rs 50,000. After receiving no further response, Gurpreet filed a complaint with the Sirsa police, leading to an FIR being registered.
