State Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij inspected the under-construction bank square-cum- shopping mall in Ambala Cantonment and directed the officials to expedite the work and adhere to the original design of the building.
Anil Vij on Tuesday held a meeting with the officials of the departments concerned regarding the project and inspected the building.
ADGP OP Singh, who holds the charge of the Managing Director of Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Chief Engineer Sanjay Mahajan, Superintending Engineer Sanjay Verma, XEN Rajpal, Ambala Municipal Commissioner Sachin Gupta, Ambala Cantonment SDM Satinder Siwach and other officers from Chandigarh were present during the inspection.
During the inspection, the minister inspected the construction work on the ground floor, first floor and other floors of the building and instructed the officers to expedite the work. The officers informed the minister that the building's roof would be made of reinforced glass, allowing natural light to illuminate the structure during the day.
Anil Vij said, "A bank square-cum-shopping mall is being constructed at Ambala Cantonment, and I believe that it will be Haryana’s finest building. Due to some issues, the construction work of nearly 50 showrooms was stopped. A meeting has been held with the officials concerned so that the stalled work can be resumed and they have been told to adhere with the original design of the project.”
The minister said 32 banks situated in different markets from Ambala Cantonment will be relocated to this building. Currently, these banks are scattered in market areas, causing parking issues and frequent traffic jams. Bringing all banks under one roof will not only resolve these problems but also make banking tasks more convenient for the public, who can complete all their banking needs at a single location. Besides this, nearly 100 showrooms are being constructed following which it has been decided to name this building ‘Ambala bank square-cum-shopping mall’.
As per the information due to some budget related issues, some showrooms were removed from the design following which the minister has asked the officials to prepare a fresh proposal regarding the remaining showrooms and send it to the government.
Anil Vij said, “During the meeting, all officials reached a consensus on preparing a fresh proposal, which will now be forwarded to the government for approval.”
The three-story bank square-cum-shopping mall is being constructed on 3.97 acres at a cost of Rs 111.53 crore. The basement and ground floor will have parking space for approximately 325 vehicles. It will also have its STP (sewage treatment plant), Central air conditioning for common areas, greenery in the front, four lifts, fire alarms and firefighting systems, CCTV cameras, and other essential amenities.
