Two get 14-yr rigorous imprisonment for disrobing minor in Palwal

A fast-track court has sentenced two convicts to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for kidnapping, disrobing and making an obscene video of a 15-year-old girl in January this year. They also tried to extort money from her parents. A fine of Rs 15,000 each has also been imposed on them.

The convicts, Joginder and Lokesh, had kidnapped the victim on January 23, 2024, while she was on her way to her house from tuition around 7 pm. The accused who came in a car kidnapped the victim with a weapon and made an obscene video of her inside the vehicle. Later, one of the convicts demanded Rs 3 lakh cash and gold from her parents. They also threatened to kill her if the matter was reported to the police.

An FIR was registered under Sections 365, 384 and 34 of the IPC and Section 8 of the POCSO Act. The third convict, identified as Shankar, has been awarded two years’ RI, for providing a SIM card for making the extortion call to the victim’s family. A fine of Rs and Rs 10,000 has been imposed on him.
