Two BSP leaders of Yamunanagar district switch to Congress
Two senior BSP leaders of Yamunanagar district left their party and joined the Congress.
Influential Jat leader of Yamunanagar district Mahipal Singh Bhagwangarh joined the Congress party in the presence of Congress leader and Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda at Shahabad town in Kurukshetra district on Monday.
However, Rajesh Kataria, district in-charge (prabhari) of the BSP and former member of the Zila Parishad joined the Congress in the presence of Deepender Hooda in Delhi, yesterday.
Mahipal Singh contested the Assembly election of 2019 on the BSP ticket from the Radaur Assembly constituency of Yamunanagar district and he bagged 18,567 (13.06 per cent) votes.
“Leaving the BSP, I along with my team members, including master Jang Singh, Chander Bhan Kamboj, Devi Dayal Singh, Satpal Audhari, advocate Ramesh Kumar Berhampur, Jagdish Mann Telipura and Ved Bhagwanpur joined the Congress party,” said Mahipal Singh.
He said he took this decision after considering it with his team members and well-wishers.
“Soon, we shall hold a political programme in our village Bhagwangarh and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda will be invited as chief guests,” said Mahipal Singh.
He said the people had made up their mind to oust the BJP from power in the state.
“Congress candidates will register a win in all four Assembly constituencies in Yamunanagar district,” said Mahipal Singh.
Meanwhile, Rajesh Kataria said whatever responsibility the party entrusted him with, he would fulfil it honestly.
“I left the BSP and joined the Congress. Now, I will campaign for the party candidates,” said Rajesh Kataria.
