Tributes paid to farmers who lost lives during stir
On Diwali, farmers gathered at Punjuana village to pay tributes to their fallen comrades who fought for their rights during the farmers’ stir. While many celebrate Diwali with fireworks and sweets, these farmers took a moment to remember those who lost their lives in the struggle for justice.
Members of the Bharatiya Kisan Eka (BKE) team organised the gathering at the farmer bus stand, lighting lamps in memory of those who had died. They shouted slogans like “Shahid Kisan Amar Rahe” (martyr farmers live on), expressing their gratitude and respect. Gurlaal Bhangu, the media incharge of the BKE, stated that this annual event was a way for the farmers to honour those who sacrificed their lives in the fight for their rights.
Kultar Singh Kanwar, a local farmer, said that they respected these farmers in their hearts. He noted that their sacrifices inspired the community to continue the fight against injustice. Alongside Kanwar, many other farmers, including Jagdeep Singh and Baljinder Singh, joined in to remember their heroes.
As the farmers lit the lamps, they also prayed for the progress and prosperity of agriculture, hoping that their efforts would bear fruit in future.
