The Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) has launched the 2041 Master Plan, aiming to transform Faridabad into a world-class metropolitan hub with state-of-the-art infrastructure across various sectors. Envisioned projects include a massive Yamuna riverfront, the Rapid Rail Transport System (RRTS) to connect with NCR cities, a pod taxi service linking Faridabad with Gurugram, and even a helicopter service for residents.

A significant focus is the development of a 20-km Yamuna riverfront, a transformative project that will revitalise hundreds of acres of unused land previously subjected to illegal encroachments.

Additionally, the plan envisions modern residential hubs along the future Faridabad-Jewar International Airport Greenfield Expressway and high-speed rail lines linking Faridabad with Noida. Intra-city connectivity is also set for enhancement, with projects like the East-West Corridor, a Metro extension to Palwal, and an RRTS link replacing the previous Metro plan between Faridabad and Gurugram.

NK Katara, a retired official, emphasised the importance of curbing illegal colonisation to ensure sustainable development. Sudhir Singh Chauhan, Senior Town Planner (STP) with the FMDA, said, “The focus of the Master Plan – 2041 is on state-of-the-art connectivity and planned urbanisation.”
