Faridabad, August 18
The power transformers stock scheme, meant to ensure ready availability of equipment in case of power supply breakdown, is facing a shortage of equipment.
“The department is faced with the problem of replacing damaged transformers in a given time in the wake of non-availability of transformers, resulting in delay in power supply resumption,” claim sources in the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam.

Though the Power Department is required to replace a damaged transformer within 24 to 48 hours, the unavailability of equipment results in delay and harassment to consumers most of the time, claim sources. The power cuts have led to protests and demonstrations many a time in the past few months. — TNS
