The traffic police have issued challans — ranging between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 — to as many as 15 owners of the two wheelers for riding without helmets during a rally organised by the JJP recently. Former Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala was among those who who rode a motorcycle without a helmet.

A police spokesperson said parties and their activists were advised to adhere to traffic norms during the campaign otherwise they would face action. When contacted, Dushyant admitted his fault and said he was ready to face any penalty as per rules. He said he would ensure that he followed the traffic rules like any other citizen.
