Total voter count pegged at 2.04 cr, 6.29 lakh electors added in 8 months
Haryana added over 6.29 lakh new voters since January 2024 with the total voter count pegged at 2.04 crore for high-stakes October 5 Assembly polls, as per the latest data released by the Election Department.
8,821 centenarian voters
- As many as 8,821 voters are above 100 years of age while 2.31 lakh voters are aged above 85 years
- Over 1.08 crore voters are men while 95.82 lakh are women
- As many as 1,29,392 new voters were registered between August 27 and September 2 this year
- 2.67 lakh new voters added since the Lok Sabha elections
- Faridabad district has the maximum voters at 17.96 lakh while Charkhi Dadri has the lowest at 4.14 lakh
While the total number of voters as on January 22, 2024 was pegged at 1.98 crore, the voter count was over 2.01 crore on May 6, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Since the Lok Sabha polls, the state added around 2.76 lakh new voters. The total number of general voters is now 2.03 crore while the service voters account for 1.09 lakh, divyaangs (1.49 lakh), overseas voters (794) and transgenders (467).
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pankaj Agarwal said following the final publication of the voters’ list on August 27, new submissions were accepted until September 2, 2024. “This led to the addition of 1,29,392 new voters to the list, comprising 64,031 men, 65,352 women and nine third-gender individuals,” Agarwal said.
Meanwhile, with the whopping 5.21 lakh voters, Badshahpur Assembly segment in the National Capital Region (NCR) has the maximum vote count in Haryana. The Narnaul constituency has the least number of voters at 1.58 lakh.
Certain constituencies in the NCR have reported maximum number of voters after Badshahpur with Gurugram reporting 4.43 lakh voters followed by Tigaon (3.74 lakh), Badkhal (3.32 lakh) and Faridabad-NIT (3.21 lakh).
Data showed that of the 22 districts in the state, Faridabad had the maximum number of voters at 17.96 lakh while Charkhi Dadri has the lowest number of voters at 4.14 lakh. The state will have 20,629 polling stations spread across 90 Assembly segments in the state.
Meanwhile, Hemant Kumar, an advocate, said according to rules, the new voters could be enrolled till 10 days before the filing of nominations. Since September 12 was the last date of filing nominations, those who enrolled till September 2 were added in the voters’ list, he asserted.
