Gurugram, August 23

The Gurugram Police arrested three accused in a case of getting money transferred by fraudulent means after inviting people to meet through the Grindr app. One of the accused had earlier murdered a person. A bike and Rs 9,500 were recovered from their possession.

According to the police, a person had filed a complaint at the Udyog Vihar police station stating that a person had contacted him through the Grindr app and invited him on a date on March 5. When the victim met the accused, he was taken to a forest area near Ram chowk, Dundahera, where he, along with his two associates snatched his mobile phone. Thereafter, they made the victim transfer money through UPI to their accounts.

According to the police, the accused were identified as Harsh Mathur (24), Narayan (21) and Laxman (22).

“During police interrogation, it was revealed that the accused used to contact a person through the Grindr app, call them on the pretext of meeting and then threaten them, take their obscene photographs and demand for money from the victim. Three cases were already registered against the accused Harsh Mathur in Gurugram. We are questioning the accused,” said Varun Dahiya, ACP crime.
